The NFL has declared that they will kick off Super Bowl LVIII next month with both the “Black National Anthem” and the traditional national anthem.
This move has ignited debate, with some questioning the necessity of a separate national anthem for the Black community.
The song “Lift Every Voice and Sing” has garnered increased attention following the George Floyd protests and the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.
Critics contend that endorsing a distinct black anthem impedes unity and fosters division along racial boundaries.
Political commentator Charlie Kirk remarked, “In truth, the black national anthem is already performed at every Super Bowl, as The Star-Spangled Banner represents the anthem of ALL Americans.”
Kirk continued, stating, “The push to establish a ‘black national anthem’ and a ‘black Independence Day’ on Juneteenth is part of a broader initiative to segregate Americans based on race.”
“Let’s return to the times when Whitney Houston demonstrated how ALL Americans could sing about and commemorate this nation,” Kirk concluded.
